Recalled products in May 2021
A food recall is defined as “action taken to remove from sale, distribution and consumption foods which may pose a safety risk to consumers. Food recalls may be initiated by the manufacturer, distributor, or a government agency. In most cases, recalls are done voluntarily by the manufacturer or distributor of a product. In most cases a company will discover their product is defective and issue a recall.
A government agency such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) may also notify a company that their product is defective and ask them to issue a recall. Often, the company will comply. If the company refuses, the FDA can get a court order that allows the federal government to seize the defective item. Consumers can check for food, drug, and cosmetic recalls on the United States Food and Drug Administration’s website. Below are two products that were recalled in May of 2021.
